Welcome!

Thanks for registering for the Ford Personalized Fuel-Efficiency App Challenge! We’re thrilled that you want to help drivers better understand and improve their personal fuel-efficiency.

Bid adieu to procrastination and get started on your submission today! Apps are due July 24, 2013.

Quick-start guide

  1. Learn more about the OpenXC platform. OpenXC is an API to your car. It’s designed from the ground up to be open source, and runs on a combination of the Arduino and Android platforms.

  2. Explore ideas. Visit the Ford Ideas Challenge and check out consumers’ ideas for great fuel-efficiency apps. And don’t miss the new open-sourceweb-based visualizer for OpenXC vehicle data.

  3. Brainstorm. Nowadays, cars are like rolling computers without a monitor. How can you help change that? What apps can you create that "talk" to a car's sensors and show drivers how they're really doing?

  4. Choose your platform. We’re accepting web browser and native Android apps.

  5. Start working. You can get started right away without any hardware — check out the tutorial to begin. The best submissions will be awarded over $50,000 in prizes.
