Submission tips

Heads up, the submission deadline for the Ford Personalized Fuel-Efficiency App Challenge is July 24, 2013 at 5 p.m. EDT!

Worried about your application? Follow these tips to ensure smooth sailing.

How to nail the submission process

  1. Ask others to test your app. You know your app like the back of your hand, but are you sure that others will find it as easy to use? Send a copy of your testing instructions (a submission requirement!) to your friends and family, and challenge them to install and use your app without any additional help from you. It’s a great opportunity to get feedback and fix any bugs or broken links.

  2. Start your draft. Beginning your draft early is the best way to avoid feeling rushed later on. Fill out the easy fields now (like name, platform, category and submitter type), and you’ll have fewer items to worry about on the day you submit.

  3. Submit early. When you’re ready to enter your submission, just visit the draft that you saved and click “Submit for Review” at the bottom of the form. We review submissions on a rolling basis, so the earlier you submit, the earlier we can tell you if anything is amiss (and give you the opportunity to change it).

  4. Read the fine print. Ensure that your app is eligible by triple checking the Official Rules. We’d hate to have to disqualify your submission based on a technicality, no matter how small it may seem!

As always, we’re here to help. If you have any questions about the challenge, post on the Discussion Forum or shoot us an email at with “Ford” in the subject line.

If you have questions about the OpenXC Platform or need help with a specific application you’re developing, post in the OpenXC Google Group.

Happy programming!
